Happy 4th of July

In the United States, we celebrate our national 'birthday' this weekend. The Fourth of July.

"Having undertaken for the Glory of God and the advancement of the Christian Faith" - The Mayflower Compact

"This Nation was founded not by religionist, but by Christians; not on religion, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ" - Patrick Henry

"We recognize no sovereign but God and no King but Jesus!" - John Adams and John Hancock

"The Constitution, A system which without the finger of God never could have been suggested..." - Alexander Hamilton

James Madison conceived the three branches of Government by inspiration of Isiah 33:22.

"For the Lord is our Judge [Judicial]
The Lord is our Lawgiver [Legislative]
The Lord is our King [Executive]
He will save us." Isiah 33:22

"God who gave us life gave us Liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their basis?" - Thomas Jefferson

"to the distinguished character of patriot it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian" - George Washington

"The birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the savior" John Quincy Adams

Freedom forged on the Cross is the freedom that inspired the Constitution.

Have a safe and happy holiday!!

James Madison was also a strong advocate of a separation between Church and State.

In his Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments, Madison wrote: "What influences, in fact, have ecclesiastical establishments had on civil society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of civil authority; in many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny; in no instance have they been seen the guardians of liberties of the people. Rulers who wish to subvert the public liberty may have found an established clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government instituted to secure and perpetuate it, needs them not."

I think it's dangerous to take historical quotes out of historical context. I've read quotes from several of the Founding Fathers -- including those you've cited here -- which indicate that they were not Christians at all, but deists and Unitarians.

The United States is not a Christian nation, and the Fourth of July is not a religious holiday -- although thanks to our First Amendment, you're certainly welcome to celebrate it as such.

That's the true beauty of this country.

Free speech and the exchange of ideas are the absolute key to a free nation. Thanks for your comment.

I don't consider myself religous. I'm a man in a relationship with Jesus Christ. It's not about religon, it's about that relationship.

Every Holiday, every day to me is about Jesus. So if that makes it religous in the eyes of some, that is how they see it.

Now the Seperation between Church and State was originally suggested and championed by Thomas Jefferson. It is in fact from a letter of his that we get the phrase. But what he was talking about was 'a wall of seperation between church and state' to protect the CHURCH from interference by the STATE. Not the other way around. Jefferson, like many Founding Fathers knew that the Church must have a strong influence on the State for their great experiment of Democracy to survive.

Blog Fail:

As an atheist, I'm able to look at history as a whole and not simply within the scope of your religion, which is really very limited and biased. You may be happy in your belief, but trying to construct our country's history around your severely biased worldview is not acceptable.

Since the story of Jesus was pieced together from the solar savior myths before it, see Horus, et al, it makes sense that those who believe it to be real would believe anything that would seem to support their faith, including out of context or imaginary quotes.

How someone can be so analytical in their gaming and not know the fundamental history of solar savior deities that gave rise to the current solar savior deity myth is beyond me. One would think if you loved Jesus so much you would really love Horus, Osiris, Dionysus and all the other virgin-born, Dec 25, 12 dicipled gods that came before him.

Worshiping a knock-off just seems lame when you could worship the original Egyptian "rod and staff". It's not like being "thy rod and staff" is original.

This is hardly the first time my faith has been transparent in the blog. It is a huge part of my life. As a fair warning, this entry won't be the last time you see a mention of my faith in the blog. I respect Anonymous' belief, and would defend to my death his right to disagree with me.

Now as a former atheist myself, I'm actually fairly aware of some of solar savior myths from other cultures. I'm aware of the "Argument from Design". I'm versed in the stories from Babylon that bear a striking a resemblence to some of the Old Testament. I'm aware of the theory of Markan Priority.

What I found, was that the Enemy is a master deceiver and loves nothing more than copying God's true works. This can be clearly seen the time of Moses' showdown with Pharoah's magicians. Every 'miracle' that Moses performed was able to be imitated and duplicated by Pharoh's magician's.

The reason I can be 'so analytical' and still love Christ comes from my own personal relationship with Him.

I sincerely doubt I will change anyone's mind with this blog, but I will state that I know through a mountain of archaelogical verification, fulfilled prophesy, and my own personal experiences that what I believe is REAL. It is alive, and living and powerful.

God loves you, even those who disagree with him. The Bible says he loved us 'while we were yet sinners.' He wants to have a relationship with you and provided a way through His Son Jesus Christ, who lived as a man, was crucified, died, rose to live again on the third day, is now with God in Heaven and is coming back again one day for those who love him.

All you have to do is accept his gift, admit you've done stuff you know is wrong (sin), believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he rose from the dead three days after he was buried and then tell someone about your new faith in God.

There's actually people that can walk you through the whole thing, just call 1-888-NEED-HIM.

Not playing WoW much anymore, but your blog is one of the few I still read religiously (pun-intended) and I think it's great that in this day and age of political correctness you continue to stand by your beliefs.

Keep it up.

Hope you had a great 4th.
