This really was the hardest button to push

My last blog post was Christmas eve, which is over three weeks ago. As much as I don’t want to admit it, it is time for me to close down Honors Code.

What I wanted to do most tonight was just take this opportunity to say thank you.

Thank-you If you’ve read the blog – Thank you!

If you’ve ever commented – Thank you!

If you’ve emailed me – Thank you!

If you’ve followed me on Twitter – Thank you!

If you invited me to be a guest on your Podcast – Thank you!

If you subscribed in a Reader – Thank you!

This is my 960th post, and I’ve been doing this just 4 months shy of 4 years. It has been a great learning experience and I’ve really enjoyed it. Truth be told, I really don’t want to shut the blog down, but the reality is, I can’t maintain any kind of posting schedule anymore. As some of you might know, less than a week after my last post, we welcomed our second child to planet Earth. I’ve also taken on a side project to purchase a laptop. Life is busier now. I really hate the time excuse, but I could find the time. Tonight sort of proves that. We always make time for what’s important to us. Unfortunately, blogging just doesn’t fit that criteria anymore.

I guess part of it is I don’t feel like I have much to say anymore. I’m not tanking anymore, although some of the PuG tanks I’ve met make me want to strap on the shield. Of course, even if I was tanking, they would still be rude, crude and socially unacceptable. We aren’t raiding yet (which is always great fodder), and the reputation and gearing grind doesn’t lend itself well to topics. Every night is basically running a random heroic after waiting in a really long queue praying for a good healer and a tank with a clue, hold the attitude, please, and watching Cloth and Strength gear drop. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Another factor is this blog came into existence to host the Paladin leveling guide I wrote. I’m still really proud of the fact that it got linked from Blizzard’s own Class Guide page. I knew once the Sundering happened, I wouldn’t be able to maintain it.

If I was going to blog, I’d rather blog about current events, like idiot Alabama Governors, and other fun topics. I feel like I have a different perspective than most people. I think I’d be difficult to pin down or label, but I’m aware enough to realize my self perception could be completely wrong.

But blogging and doing it well takes a commitment of time that I’m simply not able to give right now.

And I’ll answer the other question I’m sure is on your mind. Yes, I’m still playing WoW. You can find me on Altar of Storms (or watch the feed on the right as its updated with my characters achievements.)

Thank you so much for being a great audience and listening to me on days both good and bad.

Last one out turn out the lights.

Hi, Honors! I really loved reading you, and I discovered your blog probably 2 years ago or so from the very paladin leveling guide that you mention! Not everything held specific information for me as a mage, but I really appreciated the stories and watching the progress of your guild. I wish nothing but the best for you and your growing family. I'll still follow you on Twitter if you continue to maintain it. I'll keep you archived in my reader! Always sorry to see a good blog close down. Good luck and Godspeed, my friend!

Thank you Honors, for a great blog. Your blog was one of the first I read on a regular basis when I switched my main to Paladin at the beginning of Wrath. You helped me to be a better tank throughout the expansion. Congratulations on the new family member, and I pray God's blessings on all that you do.

Honor

Been following your postings and in-game/RL events for most of the 4 years you have been posting.

Thank you for the incredible contribution you have made to the game, and to all paladin tanks (myself included).

Best wishes with your future plans!

It's always a sad moment when you see one of the reasons you started call it quits. We've known for a while now that it was coming though.

Peace, friend.

I will miss this blog honors. See you in game, lets get some heroics going! Sorry, I know several of us were kinda zero'd in on our heroic dungeon achieve, things should kind of get back to normal with a raiding schedule and more diverse heroic groups.

I'm sorry to see you go.. but I want to remind you that if the bug bites you're welcome to come back.. I stopped blogging from April until November last year.. and it was good to have a break. If you ever get the urge.. we'll still be here. Heck, even if you don't get the urge :) we'll still be here. Have fun in whatever you do.

Farewell Honors.
Thank you for all the years of content you have putout, for all the advise you blog had as I entered tanking and raiding, and for all the hard work you have done for the Tankadin community.

You were the first blog I read regularly and one of two reasons I started blogging myself.

I wish you all the best with your raiding when it comes, with your writing if you still have time for it and most importantly your new child.

Yours will be a blog truly missed.

Well, that's a bummer.

But hey! Diapers containing disturbing colors! Backblast poos that shoot up the baby's back and caveman finger paintings at 3 in the morning! Shambling into the grocery store zombie style smelling like baby spit up in a shirt with stains on the back (the cleanest you could find!) on two hours of sleep to find formula. There's still fun to be had!

I see a daddyblog in your future.

Oh Honors :( Even though our classes were different, I felt like we practically grew up in the blogging world together!

Take it easy, sir!
