March: WoW, Hearthstone, SWTOR and the Flu

Archimonde's corpse wasn't even cool yet when I came down with the flu. Now, the obvious question I get when I told people I had the flu was 'Didn't you get a flu shot?' This was always delivered with a mix of concern and varying degrees of condescension.

No, I didn't get a flu shot. I used to get one every year, without fail, but then about 7 years ago, I had a little issue with the flu shot. I got it that year at work like I always did. As I headed back to my desk, I felt like I had taken a Shadow Bolt right to the arm and that somebody had cast Agony and Corruption on me, but I chalked that up to a "normal" reaction. A few minutes later, I still wasn't feeling great, and I decided to go get a drink from the vending machine. About halfway there, I'm passing coworker in the hall. I remember him saying, "You don't look so..." I assume he finished the sentence with "good", but I couldn't really tell you seeing as I passed out and collapsed. I was tanking the floor IRL!

When I came to, I was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital. Apparently, passing out in front of your coworkers is a great way to encourage them to call 911 and get a trip to the ER. I must remember that for future reference! They kept me in the hospital for a couple of hours, but they never could figure out what caused me to pass out. This did not instill great confidence in me. My doctor and I kind of agreed that maybe we would be avoiding the flu shot in the future.

That's why I didn't get a flu shot this year, and I've been lucky the past 7 years and avoided the flu. I guess my luck had to run out eventually. Given the past few weeks of utter misery I've endured, I'm seriously considering rolling the dice next year. Maybe I'll get the flu shot at my doctor's office insetad of at work so they can keep an eye on me.

I managed to miss the next couple of raid nights. In the meantime, the team has managed to get about 6 heroic bosses down which is all kinds of cool. Gratz, guys!

WoW

In WoW, I've been doing little more than Garrison chores on my Level 100s (Paladin, Hunter and Mage). I'm still building up each of their Garrison followers and trying to stockpile as much gold as I can before Legion. I'm hoping for a big drop in Token prices once everyone returns for the new content.

I've also been leveling a new alt. Hearthstone decided to run a promotion where you get a new Lady Liadrin skin for your Paladin if you level a toon to 20 in WoW. I've never been that interested in the alternate skins for Mage or Hunter (Medivh or Alleria). I've come close a couple of times to buying Warrior alternate skin. You get none other than Magni Bronzebeard to replace Garrosh, the default Warrior skin. I'm not a big fan of Garrosh and I absolutely love Magni. The biggest thing holding me back is the alternate skins are $10 and I think that's a little steep for what you get.

I decided I would participate in the promotion to get the alternate Paladin skin. I made a Worgren Rogue and he's currently working his way up the ranks. I hope to have him to 20 pretty soon.

Hearthstone

Like WoW, I've been playing and stockpiling gold and dust for the upcoming expansion. Whispers of the Old Gods should be out in late April or early May. I'm currently up to about 2500g and 700 dust, with out 800 dust in potentia. In potentia because I'm holding on to duplicates and not dusting them right away. Blizzard has announced they are going to nerf several cards from the Classic set. In the past, when they have nerfed cards, you get the full disenchant value for them rather than the one-quarter value you normally would receive.

After hitting Rank 10 last month, I haven't been able to break through Rank 15. My Tempo Mage struggles against Zoo and my Patron Warrior seems to be hit or miss. I'll make another push here at the end of the month, but I'm not overly optimistic.

SWTOR

I finished Chapters 10 and 11 with both my Light side Jedi Knight and my Dark side Trooper. Chapter 11 was much better than Chapter 10, partially because I liked Jorgan much more than Kailyo. I'll do a more in depth post on that later.

I got flu shot and it didn't do a lick of good for me. Hell, this year's flu is particularly nasty. So many people in my office got it that the boss basically ordered everyone to work from home for one week.
