1000th Post

Today marks the 1000th post to Honors Code. I would never have believed that I would write 1000 posts when I started the blog seven years ago. Looking Back What started out as a Wow blog eventually evolved into SWTOR and now Wildstar, but the peak was tearing through content as a Paladin tank through Wrath of the Lich King. Along the way I've amassed nearly half a million page views. I think over half of those were probably for my "Leveling a Paladin Guide".  I’m still really proud of the fact that it got linked from Blizzard’s own Class Guide page for over two years. Over the years the games have changed, and I've take a break or two. I've posted stuff I'm super proud of, and I've posted stuff I wish I never had. I regret my mistakes, and I relish the good memories. Looking Forward I'm looking to get back to my roots so to speak. Over the next couple of months, I'll prepare for the Wildstar's release and getting back to tanking...

Talk To The Hand

I logged on Saturday night with the idea of finding a premade PVP group from either Heroes, Mal Katai or Dominion for Battlegrounds to continue the grind for my Season 2 Mace. There was also rumor that Mal Katai might be doing a Sunwell trash PuG. I had thrown my name in the hat to try to get a spot there as well. When I logged in, I got a tell from Vlad. She is the Raid Leader and Co-Guild Master of Dominion. "Wanna do Kael?" I calmly responded to her query. "ZOMG, ZOMG, ZOMG YESS!!!" I went and respeced back to Protection and grabbed my shield and consumables. It turned out what I joined was a combined Bloodsky/Dominion Ring run. Bloodsky is the most progressed guild on Altar of Storms Alliance side. Dominion (my guild) is next. Several people in Bloodsky still needed Kael'thas for their Scale of Sands ring. This is just like the Kara ring you can get when you complete the attunement quest for Kara. For this ring you have to complete the attunement to M...

The Question

Image
There is a question that haunts every tank. Then entire raid is depending on you to stay upright. The Boss whose attention you must control will kill everyone of them with hardly breaking a sweat, unless you stand in the gap. If you die, the raid dies with you in short order. Even if we never verbalize it, even if no one else knows or even cares, every tank is haunted by the Question. Do I have what it takes? Will I come through? There is really only one way to answer that question. You must test yourself. You must, with reckless abandon, throw yourself into the gaping jaws of the beast, invite him to unleash his wrath on you, and wait for the answer. It was Tuesday night. The raid needed me to help them cut through the swath of undead that stood between them and their true goal, Archimonde. As we traveled through the Caverns of Time, something unexpected happened. Our Main Tank Warrior disconnected. We waited, and we waited, but he did not return. Our team began to wonder and ...

Reflections on Gruul

Image
Progression kills are like oxygen to raiding guilds. If you don't get some from to time to time you die. You could almost feel a palatal change in Mal Katai last night when Gruul went down. Everyone was buddy buddy, everybody was happy, all was right and well with the world. I am very appreciative of the opportunity I got last night to be one of the two tanks on Gruul. I owe a big thanks to Trey (Tralic) and to Drew (Brindall/Valdrin). Either of them has the pull within the guild to take over either of those tanking spots without an issue. So to a certain extent, they along with Dora (our GM and Raid Leader), let me be the Hurtful tank. Most guilds that I have talked two have about 4 solid tanks (2 Warriors, a Feral Druid, and a Prot Paladin). I think last night went a long way in establishing myself as one of the core tanks of this guild. I think my purchase of the Merciless Gladiator's Gavel was key to being able to do the job well. Prior to the purchase, I ...

Whos Afraid of the ...

This is my 50th! post. Wow. (This post brought to you by the word, RWAR! RWAR, filling Fuzzy Bears with rage since 1807) Tuesday night and Heroes Inc gears up to attack Kara. I was 99.9% sure I wasn't going last night but it turned out we had enough for two groups again. My illustrious band of Heroes was: Me (Prot Paladin) Zadorr (RWAR!! Feral Druid tank with a metric ton of hitpoints) Baconstrip (This guy makes me a tree hugger, Resto Druid) Witchita (Elemental Shaman respec'ed to Resto for the night) Tanzi (Hybrid Priest) Faceeraser (Flame on! Fire Mage) Brambles (What's your hurry! Arcane Mage) Jagdelf (giving Hunter's everywhere a good name) Sylvara (He slices, she dices, and makes thousands of jullienne fries) Darolynn (Dark Lord of the Shadow, awesome shadow priest) Attumen? Sit down! For Moroes, we got a Shadow Priest, Holy Paladin, Prot Warrior, and Ret Paladin. We shackled the Ret Paladin, burned down the Shadow Priest, trapped the Holy Pala...
