Surviving Kaz'Rogal As A Prot Paladin

Image
When I first joined Dominion, the role of Prot Paladin on Kaz'Rogal was to find a nice spot away from the raid and wait to die. I found this unacceptable. I took it upon myself to figure out a way to help the Raid and stay alive. My first strategy was to get into a combination of my Shadow Resist and PVP Healer gear. This set gave me a large mana pool, and large hit point pool and a little Shadow Resist to maybe resist a Mark or two. This strategy worked pretty well until the night we lost our Main Tank, and I was unable to pick up Kaz because I wasn't in tanking gear. I had to figure out a way to survive Kaz in my tanking gear with a mana pool of around 6000 Raid Buffed. I was talking to Cathmor/Baelor of Eye For An Eye . He explained some of the tricks he used as a Ret Paladin for surviving Kaz'Rogal. A Ret Paladin has it even tougher on Kaz because while he has about the same size mana pool, he constantly tapping that mana pool to do damage. I was able to apply ...

Smooth As Butter On A Bald Monkey

There is no better phrase to sum up last night's Dominion raid on Mount Hyjal, other than to say it was as smooth as butter on a bald monkey. The phrase comes from a show called Veggie Tales which I highly recommend. It's aimed at children in the 6 to 10 years old age bracket, and it has enough humor and lovable characters to keep the parents entertained as well. One of the staples of Veggie Tales is their Silly Songs With Larry. The following is an excerpt from the Silly Song song called " Dance of the Cucumber ", where I got the phrase. They wanted the song to rhyme in Spainish which made for some "interesting" lyrics. The link will take you to a page where you can listen to a 30 sec snippet of the song. Narrator: "Larry will be performing the traditional Argentinian ballad, 'The Dance of the Cucumber,' in it's original Spanish. Bob the Tomato will translate." Bob: "Watch the cucumber" Larry: "sus suaves movim...

Believe In Now

"The Past is what you learn from, the Now is what you live from" - Herman Edwards, Head Coach, Kansas City Chiefs Last night was a real learning experience for me as my guild took on Archimonde in Mount Hyjal. I was in a different group than I had been in our previous attempts. This time I was more behind Archimonde on the side near the little lake. I can without question pin one of our wipes on my own error. I got Air Burst and used my Tear of the Goddess a little early. This caused me to take about 50% fall damage. That was too much, so the next time around, I tried to wait a little longer to use my Tear. I overcompensated and waited too long, hitting my Tear just as I was about to impact. It was something akin to opening a parachute too late and I 'cratered' causing my death. It should be pointed out that one other member of my party also cratered at the exact same moment. Perhaps there was something odd with the location to which we were running. Nonetheless, I ...

My Bags Feel Lighter Already

SOURCE: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/8202535862.htm?posts=2 We’re pleased to announce a convenient upgrade to the way that mounts and vanity pets are handled in Wrath of the Lich King. Players will be able to “learn” a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab. Once learned, the pet icon or mount icon will no longer appear in bag spaces or bank spaces. This inventory space will be made available once again for other adventuring needs. Pets can still be set to hotkeys by dragging them to the hotkey bar, much like any other spell or ability. As someone with an affinity for non combat pets and mounts, and also someone who is really tight on bag space, I am really looking forward to this change.

Which Tank To Be?

Greetings Noble Dwarf! I'm writing to you because I've been reading your blog for quite some time and I think it's great. Hopefully your wisdom can help guide me to an answer to a decision I've been wrestling with for quite some time. I've been raised on D&D. Everything ever taught to me is that dwarves hate magic. They love steel! Anything that can or should be accomplished can be done with sweat, muscle, and a sharp axe! Wow, how I love dwarves. Then I started playing World of Warcraft. I learned the group roles and decided that a dwarven warrior specced to tank would be the best bet. This is the battle that's gone on with me for over two years. Warriors are everything that I think a dwarf should be in my mind. They're gruff, heavily clad, they shield slam, they have great mitigation. They're so damn frustrating to play, though. Tanking [especially multi-mob and PuGing] is tough! Paladins on the other hand make great tanks. They AoE tank grea...

Badge Rewards Intended Audience

"Is your Pick Order based on the fact that you're in a T5-6 raiding guild, and already have all the T4+ gear you want/need? I'd appreciate any clarification you can give regarding the "which paladins is this aimed at" question as well as advice on my particular situation. Thanks in advance, Duclama of Blackhand-US" The Badge Rewards pick order is aimed at a Paladin at any progression level, however, you have to tailor it some what to your own situation. As I state in the opening paragraph of that article: "Don't follow this list blindly. If you are really weak in one particular area buy that first. For instance if you have been running Kara and have most all the epics there but Nightbane just won't drop the Panzar'thar Breastplate , the Chestguard of the Stoic Guardian moves way up the list for you." I had originally planned on making a pick order based on each level of progression, but what I found was that I was recommending...

Talk To The Hand

Image
I logged on Saturday night with the idea of finding a premade PVP group from either Heroes, Mal Katai or Dominion for Battlegrounds to continue the grind for my Season 2 Mace. There was also rumor that Mal Katai might be doing a Sunwell trash PuG. I had thrown my name in the hat to try to get a spot there as well. When I logged in, I got a tell from Vlad. She is the Raid Leader and Co-Guild Master of Dominion. "Wanna do Kael?" I calmly responded to her query. "ZOMG, ZOMG, ZOMG YESS!!!" I went and respeced back to Protection and grabbed my shield and consumables. It turned out what I joined was a combined Bloodsky/Dominion Ring run. Bloodsky is the most progressed guild on Altar of Storms Alliance side. Dominion (my guild) is next. Several people in Bloodsky still needed Kael'thas for their Scale of Sands ring. This is just like the Kara ring you can get when you complete the attunement quest for Kara. For this ring you have to complete the attunement to M...
