More Rep Grind

There really wasn't much going on last night in Heroes. Two of our healers were doing Arenas last night, leaving very few healers for instance groups.

I did my dailies, then jumped on Rabbitslayer (my Warrior alt) for a bit. He's level 30 now. My plan for Rabbit is to get him to the mid 60s before the next expansion pack. That way I can decide if I'll level my Warrior or my Paladin to 80. That decision will be made by Blizzard more than me. Will they have come through on their promise to make Paladins truly competitive tanks with Warriors and Druids? I truly hope they do and I believe they will. But I'm making sure I have an insurance poilicy if they don't.

Paladins are about where Druids were before they got buffed. Sure, you might use them on Jindo, but basically it was a Warrior's world. Now with Paladins, sure you might use one on Morogrim or Al'ar for add tanking, but its still a Warrior's world.

Can you imagine what someone who is as passionate about tanking as I am could do with a Warrior's toolset?

I did manage to actually run something last night. After failing to get a group for Heroic Mech, we ended up running regular, mostly because I was running out of time, but I knew I could run that fast and Heroic would take a while. We were also trying to get Rhubarb some more gear. There are some nice drops in there (a mace, a ring, D3 helm) for him.

It was me (Prot Paladin), Wichita (Elemental Shaman), Rhubarb (Holy Paladin), a PuG Mage and a Luxzor (Holy/Disc Priest).

We absolutely destroyed the place. We are simply overgeared for Normals. Its like running a level 60 dungeon when you are level 67, there's just no way you are going to wipe.

I got a bit more Sha'tar rep, but no drops again for Rhubarb. I really feel for the guy. He's trying to help out with our healer crunch but the instances just won't be kind for him.

I mentioned towards the end of my last post that I would be switching my Hunter from Skinning to Engineering. Well the little caveat I made about not gimping myself turned out to be pretty important. I had a brief Twitter conversation with Fiest the Rogue. If you care about high end PVE raiding, you need to be following @ FiesttheRogue . He is a tremendous resource and very helpful. He gave me a link to an EJ article and explained to me that for melee DPS and Hunters Engineering is not competitive with what is provided by the other professions. Its fantastic for casters apparently, but I'm not a caster. Other classes can get equal STR or INT to the AGI you see here. Tanks have the option for Stamina. Raid Comp Tool

Thanks to Matticus to telling me about this on Twitter. mmo-champion has produced a new Raid Composition tool, you can see it here: http://raidcomp.mmo-champion.com/ On the left you have all 30 'classes'. Every spec of every class is presented. In the center are your groups. I have no idea why they have this set up with 8 groups. You'd only ever see 8 groups (40 players) in AV and you have almost 0 control over the composition in that arena. Then on the right you have the raid buffs, and a count of Healers, Ranged, Melee, and Tanks. You drag the class from the left and drop it on the raid group slot. Your count is increased, and the buffs that you have covered light up in green. Let me pick a class/spec completely at random. Protection Paladin. There. Say you pull over a Protection Paladin and put them in group 1. Back To Basics: The 969 Paladin Threat Rotation

Protection Paladins are one of the last classes in WoW that still have a Rinse and Repeat rotation known affectionately as 969. The 969 rotation was discovered in Wrath of the Lich King Beta by Psiven who then taught it to the rest of the community via Maintankadin. It begins by recognizing that the main Protection Paladin threat moves all come in varieties of 8 to 9 second cooldowns and 6 second cooldowns. We treat the 8 second cooldown moves as 9 seconds to better fit with a 1.5 second global cooldown. The 9s are Judgment (talented), Consecrate and Holy Shield. The 6s are Hammer of the Righteous and Shield of Righteousness. The 9 second and 6 second cooldowns are rotated and alternated. With a 1.5 second global cooldown, this all fits together into a fairly tight rotation. The way this works in practice is that you lead off your threat rotation with a 9 second talented cooldown Judgment.
