Blue Like Jazz

Just a short post today. I’ve recently started reading a book called “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller. It’s subtitled “Nonreligous thoughts on Christian Spirituality”. So far I’m really enjoying it, and I want to recommend it to all the people who read this blog. Whether you consider yourself a follower of Christian Spirituality or not, I think you’ll find the book a very engaging read. Miller writes from a position of commitment, but still sounds as if he’s being human and honest.

Christmas Reading

Schools out and various industries are in the midst of Christmas shutdowns. You might find yourself with a little extra time on your hands this time of year. You also might find yourself lacking regular internet access, and be looking for some good reading material. This year my Christmas present to you is a book recommendation. The book I'm recommending you read over your Holiday break is call The Science of God: The Convergence of Scientific and Biblical Wisdom . Schroeder is a physicist and Bible scholar. His previous work was called Genesis and the Big Bang . In The Science of God , he compares the Genesis account of creation with current scientific knowledge about the origin of life. No doubt he is well versed in both the Bible and biology; he's also a skilled pedagogue, explaining abstract or counterintuitive concepts in lay terms. Some of his arguments (for instance, that the sequence of Genesis creation is congruent with evolution's progression from ...

Holiday Reading

Once again, I've been inspired by World of Matticus . Sydera was talking about how many of us find ourselves without time or access to World of Warcraft this time of year. You may be stuck on a long car trip or flight to Grandma's house. She went on to talk about some recommended reading to get you through your time away. As I was commenting on the topic, I felt like I should flesh it out and make it into my own topic. And seeing as I didn't really have a topic for today, this works rather well. First up on the Honorshammer Suggested Reading List is The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The first two books in the series have recently been made into films. Narnia is a magical land filled with mythical creatures and talking animals. The first book in the series, The Lion, The Witch, and Wardrobe introduces four children that discover Narnia. These children are prophesied to end the evil times and the never ending winter that has fallen over the land. The adventures th...

They Did It!

I took last night off WoW to spend time with my family, and I missed Dominion's kill of Archimonde. I bet the celebration in vent was awesome. I would have loved to have been there, but Archi isn't going anywhere. There will be another night to kill him. The good news is they got him. Hopefully, one week I can get in on the raid that kills Archimonde so I have a shot at my Tier 6 helm and perhaps the Shield as well. I'm really unsure what to do about the three Shield upgrades in my immediate future. Kaz'Rogal's Hardened Heart is the most tank specific one, and it's the only one with Defense. Antonida's Aegis of Rapt Concentration (from Archimonde) is really light in the stamina department, but has the most armor and spell damage. Illidari Runeshield (from BT Trash) has the same armor, and block as the Hard Heart, but gives up Hit for spell damage. The Hard Heart also sports a gem slot, which could push it even higher in the stamina department. The Aegis is...
