What To Do With The Blog

4.01 has marked the official switch from my Paladin to my Warrior, along with switching from a main spec Tank to a main spec DPS. My game play, and therefore the fodder for my blog, is going to be more focused on the Warrior DPS side of things. I’ve debated if it would make more sense to simply shut down Honors Code, and create a new blog to reflect the new focus. An informal survey of my Twitter follows seems to indicate that the DPS Warrior appears to be underrepresented in the Blogosphre. It’s a similar situation to the Paladin Tank when I started the blog way back in 2007.
On the writing front, I wasn’t named among the winners for the Blizzard Short Story Contest, but I had a blast , and I learned some important lessons as well. I will allow myself the delusion that I made it at least past the first couple of cuts, but honestly, I have no idea if that is true.  Now I want to take that experience and expand upon it for NaNoWriMo. So if blog posts are sparse during the month of November, well, now you know why.
I really wish I was one of those bloggers, like Big Bear Butt, who seems to get away with posting just about anything. He talks about his Druid, his Hunter, and even throws in real life stories about driving a big rig. I would love to be able to pull that off.
What do you think? Should I just start writing about Warriors and stabbing stuff, or create a new blog and let the lights go out on Honors Code?

I'd say stick with the name. You've built up your reputation so I think you should be happy writing about whatever you want to - be it fury or whatever takes your fancy!

I like delving into other topics - and as others have commented there isn't much about in terms of blogs for fury warriors.

Just ass this to the top...
Honor's Code - Now with 50% more awesome!

Then write about any class you want, or write about big bear butt driving a big rig, or how to make awesome sweet potato pancakes.

Ultimately, most people may identify with a specific class, but will read about many to cover their alts, their friends, and their co-raiders.

People that like your writing style, information will stay, new ones will come, and people that don't will leave.

I really Don't want to see this site close down. However whether that means you making a new blog or not I am not sure, I don't personally think there is anything wrong with just changing up this blog and switching focus.

Don't shut it down. Just start posting what YOU want and we will read it. You're a good writer and contribute a lot to the community. I agree, you have your rep here keep the doors open and change topics. Look at Kurn, hunter to pally and she's one of the best.

You rock, keep it up.

Ultimately, I think that if you write what's fun to you, you'll write well and people will read it. If you try to shoehorn yourself into something, you'll run into problems. So, write what's fun to write about, and everything else will fall into place....

I've never had a Pally and dont plan on having a warrior. I enjoyed reading about your exploits and adventures, and look forward to them in the future.

The important thing to remember about your blog is that it is *your* blog. BBB doesn't "get away with" posting about whatever he wants: he just does, because it's his blog. Same thing with me, same thing with anyone else, and same thing with you.

DPS warriors are tragically underrepresented, and I certainly won't take Honor's Code out of my feed reader if that's what you choose to blog about. :)

Its pretty much a vote to keep your blog. I'm for the same as well that you should keep your blog "Honors Code" is your brand and its also your blog. You spend along time building it up. There is also nothing wrong with just maybe changing up the site Theme or the look of it as well also if need.

But whether you play a DPS, Tank or whatever ultimately the reason that most regular readers read here is they love your writing style and analysis of things game play or whatever. I'll still read because your one my favorite blogs to read Paladin, Warrior or whatever other class. I hope you keep the blog.

In actually I had the similar problem as well when took long break from playing WoW as well with my blog. Even though I play other games and try other games besides WoW i kept my own blog name. I had switched to using wordpress for more options as my blog platform while trying out new games but I still kept my blog name even though I shifted focus a bit.

Stick with it! I know my blog has gone through a lot of different classes. I figure that a good writer will keep his readers no matter what the blog is about, as long as he writes interesting posts on that topic.

Keep the name, it's a great name.

o'course if you were switching to a Rogue you'd have to change the name :) but warriors have honour (as well as anger issues) ;)

love your blog, love your writing. you keep writin' i'll be here reading :)

Leave it as it is, though maybe change the banner and background? I don't know how much work it would take you to do that.

As stated before, you are a good writer and your fans will follow you. DPS warriors need love and we would love to hear about your exploits!

Just stick with the name, post your stuff. I for sure will continue to read it. And who knows if you ever turn back to your paladin - or some other class.

Keep up the posts!

I think you should write whatever you want. You *are* a good writer and can get away with writing about anything.

Sure, "Honor's Code" links into the paladin trope. But it works on a general feel, too. Warriors are said to talk of honour in some situations, and when the game is world of 'war'craft - well, honour, war... there's a juxtaposition there.

I'm *really* looking forward to reading your thoughts on warriors. I'm a warrior at heart and they're so under-represented in the blogosphere...

FOR THE HORDE! BLOOD AND HONOR! Seems like the blog still fits to me.

I would say definitely keep Honor's Code. Having a Pally myself, I've always enjoyed your posts about tanking. I also have a warrior so I am looking forward to your perspectives on them. You have a great writing style, whatever you write about with Honor's tone and style, it will be great.

Stay here, its your home, its where people know to find you. You've posted enough non-pally stuff that I dont think it would be a stretch to post about warriors. Can't wait to see what you have to say about them, I have mine waiting in line if Holy Power decides it's going to be fail.

Agreed with basically everyone above. It's your blog, do with it what you want to do.

I came here for stories on Paladin tanking, but eventually learned more about you, the writer, in the process.

Now it doesn't matter what you post about, or what character you play. I like the writing and will continue to come back regardless.

Old friend, Keep the blog. Post what comes to mind. We enjoy your posts and what's wrong with attracting a wider audience (not like you'll lose any of us!) due to a wider variety?

(also, trust me on this: you'll kick yourself if you start a new class blog when you get down the road and start playing more time on that "old paladin main" again!)

You sir are about tanking, honor and having fun... consider the diversification of your blog a higher calling and challenge!

Don't ever ever ever wish you were like Bear Bear Butt, you have much more class than him. Have met him in game, he is a real arrogant asshole. your writing and personality is 1000 times much better than his and you are by far a class much higher than him. lol.

As other people have said, stick with the name. It's who you are! I don't mind reading about warriors on a blog called Honor's Code. Warriors can have honor too. :)

"Need More Rage" stopped bein' about just a warrior long ago, and nobodies ever complained what the title didn't fit no mores. Write what ya want, and don't stress the title or the URL. If is interestin', folks'll read it.

Is good lucks with the NaNoRaMoWriMo!
